Campbell County and Gillette, Wyoming, is the nation’s largest, most productive coal region with 165 billion tons of recoverable coal. However, as the energy industry moves toward sustainability, the region sought to reposition itself as a research hub for clean energy methods and products.
Solution
Violet PR and our partner Splendor created a new identity for the region focused around the theme, “Carbon Valley: A Clean Carbon Initiative” – a play on the Silicon Valley. We launched a new website, LinkedIn and Instagram channels, and created blog content and e-blasts targeted toward prospective companies and researchers.
Our PR campaign told stories of the region’s successes, including the Wyoming Innovation Center groundbreaking, the CarbonSAFE project to store emissions underground, and other innovations in the carbon capture utilization and coal-to-product research space.
We secured coverage in notable national and trade outlets including Bloomberg Green, Coal Age, Chemical & Engineering News, Mining.com, POWER Magazine, The Construction Index and others. The news surrounding Carbon Valley so far has garnered 49 pieces of coverage, 114.4M impressions, 365K coverage views and 738K social shares.
